Caversham Wildlife Park

If you have friends visiting Australia for the first time then I definitely recommend you take them to Caversham Wildlife Park for the day, particularly if they want to get up close to Kangaroos, Koalas, Wombats, Wallabies and more.

Caversham Wildlife Park has the largest private collection of Australian native wildlife in Western Australia and it’s only a 40-minute drive from the city of Perth. The park is family owned and operated and it features about 200 species of wildlife, as well as farm animals which is great if you’ve got little kids with you as well.

There’s a walk-through Kangaroo enclosure where the Kangaroos roam around freely and you can pat and feed them. Most of them were just lazing around in the sun sleeping when I was there. The pellets for feeding them are provided but unlike my food obsessed Golden Retriever that woofs down all his food in 1 second flat, most of the Roos were disinterested in the pellets I had for them. They must be incredibly well fed by all the visiting tourists.

The very unique thing about the Kangaroos here is that there were many white Kangaroos which is a rarity and something I’ve never seen in the wild.
Aside from the Kangaroo walk through enclosure you can get up close with the Wombats, Koalas and various farm animals. Check out their schedule before you go on www.cavershamwildlife.com.au The park is open 364 days a year from 9am (just not Christmas Day).
