Luxury Residences at Sea

The World is a luxury cruise ship but more than this, it is the only private residential community-at-sea in the world. Since its launch in 2002 it has continuously circumnavigated the globe, spending time in the most exotic and well-travelled ports, allowing its residents to wake up in a new destination every few days. So far the world has visited over 800 ports.
The world is the largest privately owned cruise ship on the planet. It serves as a residential community owned by its residents. Each of the residents owns one or more of the 165 private apartments. Collectively, they own the ship ensuring that their experiences - both on-board and off- are far beyond current luxury travel standards.
Each resident has a voice in creating the itineraries each year. They also have a voice in the in-depth expeditions and unique experience programs. The experience programs bring on board experts in all sorts of different fields – diving, wine tasting, marine biology, world cultures etc. to prepare the residents in advance for each port they visit. The residents, through their elected board of directors and a network of committees, also provide guidance to the management of the ship's finances and lifestyle.
The World carries between 100 and 300 residents and their guests.
Approximate prices are as follows:
- Studio, list price of US$600,000.
- 2 Bed apartment, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, list price US$2,950,000.
- Suite list price of US$13,500,000.
Monthly homeowner dues range from $20,000 per month and up, to cover fuel, crew and maintenance etc.
“The World” has many of the luxury facilities you would expect to find in a 5-star resort hotel as well as the comforts you might expect when you are at home on dry land.
You can start your day with a swim, yoga class or go jogging, and indulge in your favourite coffee at your neighbourhood café, or even head to the marina and go kayaking on the open sea. You can dine in fine restaurants or stay in and have dinner at home. Due to the unique residential nature of The World there is also a grocery store and delicatessen, a boutique, athletic facilities that include a golf simulator, putting green, full-sized tennis court and much, much more.
Ultimately at the end of a day of travel and sightseeing you go home to the comfort and privacy of your own unique residence. As “The World” is constantly navigating the globe you are free to ‘hop on and off’ as you please. There is no need to pack your suitcase every time you get on or off because you own your own residence on board.
Happy Travels!
