Podiatrist Approved Sparkly Sandals

Finding the perfect sandals for any stylish summer lover can often be quite a challenge because it’s all about the-style and colour, preferably without compromising on comfort.

From the perspective of your feet, choosing the right footwear can make the difference between a great day and a painful one.
Being a person who loves to travel and loves to walk as much as possible I am thrilled to say our Ankalia sandals tick a lot of the Podiatrist recommended attributes. I have been to a number of Podiatrists over the years and here’s what they recommend:
Heel Height: For everyday use, every Podiatrist I have spoken to typically recommends a sandal with a heel height of around 2.5 centimetres. Big tick for us here. We offer our Swarovski crystal sandals in either flats (1centimetre) or with a cute little heel of 2 centimetres.
Furthermore, every Podiatrist has confirmed that high heels should only be worn on special occasions rather than everyday. They all advised that shoes with heels over 4cm centimetres increase your risk of forefoot injury and of course pain.
Flexibility: All shoes should bend or flex slightly at the ball of the foot. The sole should feel reasonably firm throughout and only flex across the ball of the foot. Another tick for Ankalia here. Our soles bend slightly at the ball of the foot. Also, our 2-centimetre heeled sole has a steel rod in the arch for that little bit of support.
Material Choice: Always choose sandals with materials that fit the purpose. For example, our beautiful high-quality Italian leather soles are breathable which means no more sweaty feet on those super-hot summer days. Also, leather being a natural fabric helps promote air circulation which keeps the feet cooler and therefore reduces the risk of fungal infections.
Light Weight: Lightweight shoes reduce the workload on your lower limbs. Our sandals weigh less than 1 kilogram, even the 2 centimetre option which has the added weight of the steel rod for arch support. But do remember, our soles are still durable enough to protect your feet and provide adequate support.
I hope this information gives you peace of mind and helps you with choosing the right sandals for you.
Lots of love,
Cheryl xx
