Rottnest Island – Hold the Wedding Bouquet

Rottnest Island is a fabulous place for a beach wedding with it’s amazing pristine beaches.

Ensuring it retains its pristine beaches there is an important focus on the threat of contamination from introduced plants brought onto the island. This also includes your wedding flowers on the big day.

All fresh flowers for wedding ceremonies on the island need to be given approval by the island authorities before they cross the 19km channel by boat or ferry.

So, before getting married on Rottnest, brides must get the contents of their bouquet officially approved by the Rottnest Island Authority.

Throwing flower petals, confetti, rice or using balloons is definitely not allowed.

So, as soon as you start planning your bouquets and flower arrangements, perhaps go to www.ria.wa.gov.au and find out what’s allowed.
