The Best Coffee in New York

Like a lot of people, I love “’good” coffee and it’s something important to me when I travel. I most certainly need a perfect coffee to start my day, as well as another one late in the morning and then one every afternoon with a chocolate bar.
Recently I did a trip to New York with Sami Lukis and eleven other girls. Fortunately, Sami has been doing her tours to New York for twelve years, so she was able to provide us with an extensive list of places that make ‘good’ coffee and two of them were very close to our hotel – The New Yorker in Midtown. Keep in mind that although New York is often termed “the city that never sleeps’ my two favourite coffee places only opened at 7am each weekday morning.
So here goes, my two favourites very close to the New Yorker were Madman Espresso and Culture Espresso.
Here’s Sami’s list of recommendations: (I didn’t get to try them all)
BLUESTONE LANE Various locations *influenced by the Melbourne coffee culture.
CULTURE ESPRESSO 247 West 36th Street * my favourite and close to The New Yorker hotel.
GROUND CENTRAL COFFEE COMPANY 498 7th Avenue *close to The New Yorker hotel.
CAFÉ GRUMPY Various locations.
EVERYMAN ESPRESSO Various locations * voted #1 coffee shop in USA.
GROUND SUPPORT 399 W Broadway @ Spring St, Soho.
JOE COFFEE Various locations.
LAUGHING MAN COFFEE COMPANY 184 Duane St, Tribeca *Hugh Jackman owns it.
MADMAN ESPRESSO – 234 West 35th Street – * another one of my favourites, close to the New Yorker hotel and there's also another one located on Bleecker Street in the West Village.
An old school friend of mine who has lived and worked in New York also recommended: Banter, Hole in the Wall and Sunny Boy.
I hope you stay happily caffeinated in New York!
Lots of love, Cheryl xx
