Lancelin Sand Boarding

If you’re looking for a fun, active day trip close to Perth then you might like the Lancelin Sand Boarding experience.
Lancelin is only 127 kilometres north of Perth and about a 1.5-hour drive. The sand dune area is massive. It looks like something you might see on the moon. The actual boarding area is about 2km long and the slopes are at a 45-degree angle. The views from the top of the dunes are stunning. You can see the coast or if you look inland it’s like a giant moon crater with views of endless sand.
You can hire your sandboards at a place called Have A Chat General Store in Lancelin and from there you can drive directly to the sand dune area.
Sand boarding is fun and you do need to be fit because unlike snow skiing there is no chairlift to take you back to the top of the slope for each run. After you sandboard down, you then have to walk back up to the top after each run. It gets the heart rate going.
Even if you’re not going to actually sandboard it’s still worth visiting just to see the dune area. The views are stunning and I’ve never seen such a sandy landscape or should I say moonscape before. It’s a real natural wonder of the world.
Although the sandboarding was fun it’s probably not something I would go out of my way to do again. I’ve ticked it off my bucket list and I have the attitude of “been there, done that!”
Lots of love,
Cheryl xx
