Barbie Sandals
As a very little girl I didn’t have a Barbie doll and I had never even heard of Barbie until I was about 7 or 8. Dolls were never really my thing, I don’t think I ever played with them, but I did want them because they looked nice, and I liked to have them lined up on my shelves. I remember I had Bubby, Rosemary and then Giggles who wore a hot pink dress with orange stripes and when you moved her arms in-and-out she giggled. At about the age of 8 I became friends with an older girl...

The New Yorker Hotel
This northern hemisphere summer I stayed in The New Yorker Hotel in New York City. It’s an historic art-deco style hotel that has been around since the 1930’s and so it has loads of interesting history. It’s located in Midtown, so it’s quite central and in between Uptown and Downtown. New York is certainly a ‘walking’ city, and The New Yorker is about a 40-minute walk to Central Park and maybe 25 minutes to Times Square. If you want to get around a lot quicker and use the subway, it’s very conveniently located next to Penn Station. I was lucky...

LoveShackFancy
I first discovered LoveShackFancy on Instagram. They produce the prettiest and most feminine clothing you ever did see, and I just love looking at their designs and pictures of their pink stores. So, on a recent summer trip to New York, I made sure I put Love Shack Fancy on my list of things to experience. I visited two of their stores – Bleecker Street in the West Village and also Madison Avenue. They describe themselves as a New York City-based lifestyle brand founded in 2013 by stylist, designer and creative director Rebecca Hessel Cohen. It all started with a...

SJP By Sarah Jessica Parker Shoe Store New York
If you’re like me and most of my girlfriends, then you probably love shoes and you probably also love watching re-runs of Sex and the City. So, of course I could not wait to visit Sarah Jessic Parker’s shoe store in New York. It’s called SJP By Sarah Jessica Parker and it’s in the West Village on Bleecker Street which is a “cool,” “hip” shopping street and neighbourhood. Also, it’s really close to Carrie’s stoop (i.e., the famous front steps to her apartment), as well as the now famous cupcake bakery – The Magnolia. The store is small and cute....

Casual Summer Day Dresses for New York
This year I did a summer girls trip to New York and the temperature was about 25 degrees Celsius every day, so it was perfect for summer dresses and the comfort of my Ankalia sandals. As always, I bought a lot of summer dresses there and my go to labels were Mango and Zara for everyday in-expensive dresses and one dress from Sandro Paris which was my one expensive designer dress. I also tried to pack sensibly so that I would have lots of suitcase space for shopping which meant I only packed three pairs of my Ankalia sandals. I...
