LoveShackFancy
I first discovered LoveShackFancy on Instagram. They produce the prettiest and most feminine clothing you ever did see, and I just love looking at their designs and pictures of their pink stores. So, on a recent summer trip to New York, I made sure I put Love Shack Fancy on my list of things to experience. I visited two of their stores – Bleecker Street in the West Village and also Madison Avenue. They describe themselves as a New York City-based lifestyle brand founded in 2013 by stylist, designer and creative director Rebecca Hessel Cohen. It all started with a...
SJP By Sarah Jessica Parker Shoe Store New York
If you’re like me and most of my girlfriends, then you probably love shoes and you probably also love watching re-runs of Sex and the City. So, of course I could not wait to visit Sarah Jessic Parker’s shoe store in New York. It’s called SJP By Sarah Jessica Parker and it’s in the West Village on Bleecker Street which is a “cool,” “hip” shopping street and neighbourhood. Also, it’s really close to Carrie’s stoop (i.e., the famous front steps to her apartment), as well as the now famous cupcake bakery – The Magnolia. The store is small and cute....
Casual Summer Day Dresses for New York
This year I did a summer girls trip to New York and the temperature was about 25 degrees Celsius every day, so it was perfect for summer dresses and the comfort of my Ankalia sandals. As always, I bought a lot of summer dresses there and my go to labels were Mango and Zara for everyday in-expensive dresses and one dress from Sandro Paris which was my one expensive designer dress. I also tried to pack sensibly so that I would have lots of suitcase space for shopping which meant I only packed three pairs of my Ankalia sandals. I...
Woodbury Common, New York
If you’re going to New York and you’re a shopper like me then I recommend you allocate enough time for an entire day at Woodbury Common which is a premium outlet centre. They claim to be the world’s most iconic outlet shopping destination and I think it’s very good. They have over 250 designers there and the ones I went to were: Prada, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Sandro, Saint Laurent, Burberry, Moncler, Bogner, Zimmerman, Alexander McQueen, Ferragamo, and Polo Ralph Lauren. I also went to Adidas, Nike, Michael Kors, and a few cheapies as well. If you want to check...
Shoe Superstitions
Almost every time I make a new sandal design, I put the sandals on my kitchen bench and film and photograph them. However, yesterday a friend said to me “Is it bad luck to put your shoes on a bench or is it only bad luck to put them on a table?” Hmm! This obviously piqued my interest, so I Googled away. This is what I found: According to Wikipedia, there is a superstition that bad luck will come to a person who places shoes on a table (luckily, I put mine on my kitchen bench for filming, not my...
