Photoshoots are so much fun especially when it’s a product you’ve put so much love, passion, blood, sweat and tears into creating. That for me is my Ankalia sandal range.
Image: all lined up and ready. 27 different sandal designs to shoot.
Many people don’t realise that I actually handcraft all our Ankalia sandals. They start with me sketching my designs and experimenting with colours. Every pair is made with love and with with my own two hands. They’re what I call “Slow ethical fashion” as they’re not mass produced in a factory and their production is not detrimental to the environment.

Every pair is made with beautiful Italian leather and you’ll get many, many years of wear out of them. They’re also timeless designs that will never date.
This shoot was with gorgeous Aussie girl Lisa Clayton who epitomises the perfect Ankalia woman. She’s bright, fresh, happy and casually chic.

The star photographer behind the lens was the wonderful Fiona Peters who is renowned for surf shoots, Bali shoots and all things Summer.
I couldn’t have asked for a better Perth day. It was 37 degrees and Lisa and Fiona were real troopers shooting in the hot north facing sun all day.

The shoot was in my own little backyard and also in my design studio. The pink wall was painted a few days prior by me and all the artwork in the indoor shots was also painted by me. Ha ha! I’m definitely no budding artist, just an ambitious sandal maker.

I hope you love my latest sandal collection which you can view on www.ankalia.com and as always, I’m happy to hear from you with any design suggestions you might have for the future.
Lots of love,
