Daneechi Swimwear
Daneechi was always my “go to” store for bikinis at the start of every Summer and I certainly felt sad when I read (way back in late 2017) that they were closing their doors after 30 years of trading. BUT the good news is Daneechi is back. Image:Daneechi swimwear and Ankalia sandals Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting the new owner Gemma Dunthorne in her pop-up shop in Nedlands. Gemma initially had plans to run Daneechi as an online store but her pop-up has been so successful, she’s already planning to expand and take on a larger permanent space...

Above the Hollywood Sign Hike
My Hollywood Sign hike was a bit of an adventure. First of all, I booked an organised tour with Bikes and Hikes. They really stressed that if you’re late they won’t wait. I knew it was touch and go with getting there on time. My Uber driver was fantastic, he sped through the LA streets at break neck speed but the traffic lights were still a major hindrance. I arrived about 7 minutes late and of course the group was nowhere to be found. I couldn’t see any signage directing me and so I just started running up the...

Los Angeles in a Day Bike Tour
For me and anyone that likes cycling or a good workout I recommend a bicycle trip if you’re playing tourist in Los Angeles. I did the one-day trip with Bikes and Hikes and I loved it. It’s a 6+ hour cycle trip covering about 50 kilometres. I will stress though that it’s not for the faint hearted because there are lots of hills in LA. That’s why it’s called Beverly Hills and the Hollywood Hills. Right! If you’re a bit worried about the hills or your fitness level there’s an option to upgrade to an electric bike. The tours...

Kylie Minogue Costume Exhibition
Last Sunday I went to the Kylie on Stage exhibition at the WA Maritime Museum in Fremantle. It’s a great place to spend a couple of hours if you love Kylie or if you’re just someone that likes pretty costumes and perhaps has an appreciation of the work that goes into designing and creating her amazing and extravagant stage outfits. The exhibition is a wonderful celebration of Kylie’s costumes and the magical moments of her 25 years of concerts. You’ll get to see a close-up of the work of international designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld...

Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe
Every year at the end of Summer I love to visit Sculpture by the Sea on Cottesloe beach. It’s an annual outdoor sculpture exhibition and it transforms the beach again this year from 1-18 March 2019. Celebrating its 15th year, the exhibition is one of my favourite free outdoor events. More than 70 artists from Australia and overseas are set to showcase their work across the 18-day exhibition. Some of Western Australia’s leading sculptors exhibiting this year are: Anne Neil, Stephen Tepper, Jennifer Cochrane, Tony Reid, Alessandra Rossi, Miik Green and Tim Macfarlane Reid. The artworks are along the...

My Favourite Place to Stay in West Hollywood
On a recent trip to Los Angeles I stayed at Palihouse in West Hollywood. It was fantastic! I loved everything about it. Not being one to stay in large hotel chains, I always try to stay in boutique neighbourhood hotels and that’s exactly what Palihouse is. Everything about it was perfect and yes it did have a good neighbourhood feel. Also, importantly I felt comfortable going to the bar alone and sitting in the foyer or restaurant alone. The staff were fantastic and very helpful and the location was great – I could walk to a lot of the...
