Wardrobe De-Clutter

Many wardrobes around the world are housing lots of unworn items that will probably never be worn. Really, every piece in your wardrobe needs to work hard for you. You need to love it and wear it more than a few times.
“Now” is a good time to declutter and organise your wardrobe. We’re in our wardrobes every day, so they need to be a place that is calming and makes us feel good. You won’t feel good or feel calm if your wardrobe is an out of control mess and overly cluttered.

We sometimes hold onto things because we feel guilty and the thought of getting rid of them will make us feel terrible. Sometimes we also hang onto things with the hope of one day losing weight and being able to wear them again. Trust me, once they’re gone, you’ll feel so much better.

When you go through your wardrobe, ask yourself if you wore it last season and if you’ll wear it this season? I also recommend you place your items in categories, such as all jeans together, all Summer dresses together, all Winter dresses together, all tops together, all skirts together etc. In addition to this, I also recommend you colour code both your folded and your hung items. I had no idea how many items I had until I colour coded. Did I really need 23 white summer dresses, 16 black summer dresses, 11 pink summer dresses etc. and the same goes for everything else as well? Oh, and don’t forget to do the same with your shoes.

Once a year I like to have a wardrobe cleanse. I take my designer items to a designer recycle store knowing that they’ll go to a new home and be worn again. All my other items I sell at my local swap market. With both of these tactics, it’s good to know that you’re passing your clothes onto a new owner at a very, very low price. You’re also getting a little bit of money back and helping to reduce landfill as well.

Once you’ve done your wardrobe cleanse and passed your clothing on to a new home, you’ll feel so much lighter and happier. Believe me it’ll really be a load off your shoulders.
Happy decluttering!
Lots of love,
